Changes: Over this last winter the Team’s management has put much thought and time into the best way to further develop the Team and some hard decisions have had to be made and no doubt will continue to have to be!
Previously the Team has been run primarily on a corporate basis and whilst giving of our best having to put the racing second to the corporate aspect of invitation navigators. So for the first time and with the unanimous agreement of this season’s sponsors we are going all out to win the Championship. This therefore means the selection of one navigator for the entire season in order to achieve consistency and avoid the starting handicap we have always had to race with. After all winning will maximise any publicity and offer the best viewing and involvement for all our sponsors and their guests.
Firstly therefore after testing with several different navigators of varying experience the decision has been made to run with Darren Mace, a civil engineer with Gallagher Estates in his day job but has run with us achieving third place at Torquay last season.
Darren’s commitment to the team will see him available for all races and most importantly living only 30 minutes from the Team’s base the availability to help prepare and practice will be vital.
Secondly Siobhan’s role as Team Manager will see a significant change. This season will see her take on more responsibilities with the actual racing and less on the hospitality side. Her primary function will be to co-ordinate all the racing aspects of the Team and will therefore dedicate all her time at race venues to the boat and her crew. Siobhan will also attend all race briefing as this year F4SA have asked for full representation at such from all Team Managers.

Construction Racing have received a postiive write up in the Birmingham Post for the first race of the season.
Welcome to a new season, which looks like being our biggest and potentially most successful yet.
For the past 3 seasons we have worked hard to develop the Team Construction Racing. A concept that not only funds the Team in the world’s largest championships and a unique marketing opportunity but offers a concept of networking within the construction industry. For those sponsors such as Halcrow Yolles who have been with us since the start we wish to thank them for their strong continued support and backing.
Several of you joined the Team last season and again continue with us this – Butler & Young, Goodman International (Rosemound as last season), The Engineering Practice, Welconstruct for who we hope to build on our relationships and thank you for your continued support.
As to this season we are please to announce the inclusion of 3 new sponsors in Solent Structures, CB Richard Ellis and Midas. For Rob Burrell, MD of Solent Structures, a seasoned boater and reserve navigator for the season who was a guest of Butler & Young last season the format is not new. However with their expertise in the design and fabrication of steel structures for a wide range of building types we also feel their presence greatly compliments the Teams networking aspect as well.
Also the join this season through the efforts of Chris White, Director of CBRE is one of the world’s largest property agents and consultancies. Chris has successfully navigated for the Team twice before, firstly helping us achieve fourth place at Plymouth in 2006 and taking second place overall in the championships that year.
Finally we, after several years of knowing and dealing through the ‘day job’, are delighted to welcome Midas to the Team. As a major main contractor, especially in the south and west of the country we believe strongly that they can only give a positive contribution to the team in all ways. With two of this year’s Championship venues being ‘home’ races for them in Torquay and Plymouth we are sure they will both enjoy their debut season and realise value from the networking.
